Interesting points of view.I have been thinking along the lines of putting advertsing of NECESSARY goods and services together with my artists. The reason? My bank asked if they could buy advertising on my (nearly launced) platform. When you think about the juxtoposition of traditional brands partnering with music...it makes you take a second look. At the very least you pay attention without disregard for the ad altogether. I do agree with the sentiment "proudly presents." That is SO off center...I'd have made certain the copy was rewritten...such an overused old school type of etiquitte it just doesn't fit...but then again .... perhaps that is the point.

Need another great example of "give it away and watch them come back for more"? My favorite band Assembly of Dust (see Podcast Episode 2) has offered up a free download each week off their upcoming album when you sign up for email updates. By the time the album drops, 8 of the 13 tracks will have been available for free from their website, aodust.com.

Fans of the band will surely be back to purchase the full album and newcomers will get a taste and hopefully remain engaged through the mailing list. Plus, it gives people a reason to come back to the website each week. Pretty gutsy and pretty cool I think.
